The World of Crime Part III

First, it is is an extremely good idea to sign this online petition. I can't even believe this is being considered.

"Aggravated" crimes should not be confused with "irritated" crimes, which cause rashes.

And again, the California Penal Codes and Presumptive Bail Amounts let you know how wealthy you are required to be in order to commit certain crimes.

I thought of doing a website last night where I take pictures of clouds and then you can mouseover the image to see what I think the cloud looks like, but there was a bit of crime involved.

I've decided that comments on OC are largely nonproductive and an unnecessary diversion for me. If you wish to comment, please do so on the Loch Ness Monster Adventure Club Forum, where actual discussions can be had. Thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm, but I believe many of the ideas presented here by myself and others deserve a place for less fragmented discussion.

I got aggravated about being assaulted once. It was with a battery, too. A car battery.

online petitions aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

That definition of regular assault made me think of Nina Gordon's cover of "Straight Outta Compton", for some reason.

That petion thing about PBS and NPR losing funding was true in 1996, but in 2005 it is a HOAX

You should actually read an article before you make a statement about it because you are completely wrong.

MoveOn.org wouldn't do something like that.
Anyway, I love me some NPR.

I mean it says right there in the link "Coincidentally, though, in June 2005 the non-existent situation which this petition had been decrying for several years finally hit the news for real when a House subcommittee voted to sharply reduce federal financial support for public broadcasting and to eliminate within two years all federal money for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Whether the appropriations bill will retain the subcommittee's recommendations as it passes through Congress remains to be seen."

I've got to figure out something to do about these comments, a good percentage of them only enrage me these days.

Hi! I was just wondering what the last bastions of "liberal media" in the country were. Thx!

I bet if NPR started running Newt Gingrich they wouldn't want to cut funding.

P.S. I couldn't decide what angry right wing show to pick, so I picked one that probably doesn't exist.

I know online petitions aren't worth much, though I signed anyway. I remember this being huge awhile ago, back in those halcyon days of the Contract with America, but it died in the senate. I think that's what'll happen this time around, or at least that's what NPR told me.

And the California bail thing is awesome. Keep it up and whatnot.

Proud NPR member for nearly 10 years.

Wow, Jeff, I just saw a great big cloud that looked just like the Hindenberg. Does it count if the clouds were made by burning crime? And what's the penalty for clouds of crime shaped like blimps?

The NEA must die.
It enables the government to write $100,000 checks for “sculptures” of burnt beer cans or a 3-yr-old’s fingerpainting. “But Art will DIE without federal grants!” What, there WAS no art before the NEA? The truly good art will find its patronage in the private sector. In this modern world, the ability to self-publish books or post comics [COUGH!]JEFF![/COUGH!] on free hosting sites like Blogger allows you to present your work to the public without needing any initial capital.
“But, I like the McNeil-Lehrer News Hour and NPR!” Now, I’ll admit that, outside the Daily Show, the PBS news programming is the last objective news television program in America…but even so, the issue is not the quality of the NEA’s current choices, but the purpose of government and the justification for forcibly spending the people’s money. You don’t think there are bigger issues than ART to spend tax money on? Defense, Education, Health Care? You think that ART is an important enough commodity to justify the government’s violation of Laisez Faire? (And while we’re on the the subject of PBS…their pledge drives are SO annoying and the SO advertise commercially OUT THE WAZOO by announcing their programs’ corporate donors).
Ordinarily I have a lot of respect for civil servants, but if you work for the NEA or take their money you are a thief, stealing from all Americans.

I pay for this hosting. You can't publish a fucking book on the internet. How dare you imply otherwise.

That's it, comments are off until further notice.
